I was in a cafe somewhere in the gray Northwest, near the Sound. I had been sitting at the bar, with my book, and had gone to an automated kiosk to buy a ferry ticket. I suddenly realized I didn't have my wallet, although I'm not sure in retrospect how I was able to buy the ticket without it. I rushed back to the cafe, and my wallet was sitting right there on the bar, open, but not missing anything. There was a fragment of mirror there, and I realized that the mirror in my wallet had broken (although in real life, it doesn't have a mirror).
I don't remember if my dad came in after I had arrived, or whether he'd appeared while I had been gone. In any case, it was unmistakably my dad, but he looked extremely young, with unlined skin, a halo of wavy light brown hair, and huge eyes with dark eyelashes. He looked sort of like he did in the pictures I'd been looking at in my grandma's photo albums, and also kind of like my brother.
He talked to me animatedly and enthusiastically, as though he was really trying hard to communicate some point, but I couldn't understand what he was telling me. I do remember him saying that he had accidentally eaten "about six hundred dollars' worth" of chocolate; apparently the tiny candy covered gourmet chocolates were $20 (or was it $2?) per ounce. He showed me a few in a little box, but they had somehow been priced in bulk instead of by the box.
He thought this was kind of funny. Eating that much chocolate is totally something my dad would do; paying that much for it is not.

sweet dreams
in real life, i have an insatiable sweet tooth. in real life, i've been consumed by the extra weight i've put on. last night i had a dream about... reese's peanut butter cups. i couldn't stay away from them. my mom was giving me that look that said honey, do you really think you should be eating that? and then my aunt stopped by and was all super skinny and i realized for the first time in my life, i weighed more than all the women in my family.
but still, i couldn't resist the reese's...

Chocolate Kisses
i just started a new job about 3 weeks ago and consequently the work dreams have begun. in a recent dream, i was working on a file but kept getting distracted. i'd have to leave the file for a minute or two and whenever i'd come back to it, things would be missing or moved around. very frustrating, especially since i'm still new enough to not know what i'm doing yet so i get confused easily. had another work dream last night but can't remember it. funny thing, as i was waking from the dream this morning i told myself i needed to add it to the blog because it seemed so real.
i also dreamed about chocolate. i'm not sure where it took place but it was some kind of a public place. it was crowded and everyone was all headed in the same direction. it seemed kind of like it was at a mall or something. i'm in the middle of a big crowd. tons of people in front of me, tons in back of me. to the right of me are different vendors and they're all selling chocolate. for some reason almost no one stops at any of the stalls to purchase anything. i guess as a way to get people to stop and buy, the vendors are all tossing chocolate peices out into the crowd. some of the peices are small, like chocolate kisses. others are huge chunks, so huge that it's difficult for just one person to catch them. one vendor has thrown out an enormous piece that no one catches and i trip over it. i never catch any of the pieces being thrown, unfortunately.
