I dreamed that I was with my boyfriend, his family, and several other people in a large house clearly located in Florida. I'm not sure why we were all together, but we learned that The Flood was going to happen (yes, the Biblical flood). I guess we heard it on TV, so we were trying to get things ready in the house (sort of like hurricane preparation). I guess we were going to try to ride it out at home.
The house was very open, airy, and light with lots of windows and skylights. I was worried about all this glass, so we decided to take refuge in a bedroom that only had one window.
As we were making preparations, it seemed that I was the only one who was really worried about the severe weather approaching; I could see the vast, black storm cloud coming up on the horizon. I grabbed my laptop and wondered if I should go and get my backpack, which apparently had my clothes inside. In the end, I didn't because a distraction arrived.
Apparently, the Biblical Aaron arrived, who had apparently made the prediction that this flood would happen. (Notice that I'm confusing Biblical characters here: in my dream, Aaron was Noah's brother.) When he showed up, I rolled my eyes and inwardly sighed; he was wearing what he clearly thought was a "hipster" suit, sunglasses, and he had long straight hair, parted down the middle. The suit, however, was large and boxy, in a navy blue, and he was wearing this mustard yellow shirt underneath, sans tie. I thought he was trying to act the part of Prophet a little too hard. (I believe that Noah was already present in the house, though he didn't have a large role in the dream.)
Everyone was really impressed that we had Aaron in the house. Everyone had gone into the small bedroom to wait for the storm to hit. This stranger, a woman, was sitting across from me. She was total Florida from head to toe, wearing a pastel suit, tons of makeup and jewelry, and had a deep mahogany tan. She kept asking me questions, as though to show that I wasn't as cool as I thought.
Then a guy came to sit in front of me because I was going to shave his face (?!). I was using this tiny, extremely sharp tool to shave him, sort of like a straight razor, but much smaller. More like a larger exacto knife. I was scraping away at his (surprisingly thick) beard/neck hair under his ears (??), and he kept twisting his head around to look at me. He kept asking me really personal questions, implying that he'd seen me several times in porn videos!!!
I kept asking him to sit still so I didn't slit his throat ("Sir, please sit still!"), but he kept saying things like, "You don't have to pretend with me, I've seen you naked," as he kept giving me leering glances. He was really gross too, a red-faced, thick-necked guy with a big, fleshy ear and jowl. I never really understood if he was mistaking me for someone else, or if I really had been in porn videos. I just decided to keep my professional shaver's demeanor and asking politely for him to sit still. My boyfriend was sitting beside me the whole time, and I knew he'd appreciate it if I didn't respond to this idiot.

do pelicans flock?
i was in a car with my parents, brothers, and grandmother. we were driving down I-4 late at night. we passed st. petersburg, which actually looked like st. petersburg... the one in russia, that is. it had all sorts of kremlin-esque buildings that were outlined with thin, blue neon lights. not only did st. petersburg look like russia and not florida, it was located in north florida instead of south-west florida.
after we drove through st. petersburg we began heading south to st. augustine. it was still late at night. as we were driving, we were parallel to the ocean. suddenly i saw the outline of a group of animals moving along the ocean. at first i thought i was seeing into the ocean and that the outlines were of whales swimming. but i soon reasoned that i would not be able to see underwater while we were driving parallel to the ocean. i refocused my eyes and determined it that it was a giant flock of pelicans. there were quite a few of them flying a long distance (and this i don't know - do pelicans flock? do the fly long distances?). it was a breath-taking sight. i remember feeling very privileged to be seeing such an event. i pointed this out to my family and it was decided that we needed to get to the shore to see them up close. so my dad began driving insanely fast so as to get ahead of the flying pelicans, so we could exit and then make it to the shore before they passed us for good.
my dad sped down the interstate, dodging cars and such. i held my breath and thought wow this would suck if we all died right now. we finally made it to an exit in st. augustine and immediately got lost in a mass of traffic and people. it was some sort of late-night street party. we realized we weren't going to make it to see the pelicans so we parked in a large parking garage and then went to a very busy fast food restaurant. while we were in the restaurant, there was a father screaming at his daughter and humiliating her. i felt so sorry for her and was getting worked up to go and confront the father when i got sidetracked by refilling my dr. pepper at the fountain.
after eating we headed back to the car but had to maneuver our way through a hospital first. as we were doing this, i thought about how cute my youngest brother looked and how it reminded me of when my other brother was his age (in the dream my youngest brother was about 6 years old). about that time i realized that my parents and mason and i had gotten separated from mark and my nana. but we soon found our way back to each other and made it to the car.
as we drove back to orlando, the sun came up and i was exhausted and a little sad that i now had one less day back home before returning to california.

Meet the Parents
Early this morning I dreamed that I was making a trip to Florida to visit my boyfriend's parents. (In real life, I've met them several times, but never visited their house in FL.)
We arrived in their house, which was laid out in a very 1970s ranch style, though decorated in a more contemporary style. I was being my usual shy self, wanting to hole up in the bedroom, pretending to put away my clothes and other things. Brett convinced me to emerge and to go for a walk outside. It turned out that they lived in an isolated area, with only a few other houses. They also had a live-in Asian housekeeper in her 20s, who, among other things, was responsible for filling the hummingbird feeders hanging by the kitchen windows. She was very nice, but I remember wondering what she did for fun.
We poked around in the foliage. Brett showed me some flowers and some really tall grasses. There was a big weeping willow tree at some point.
Wandering outside, we walked toward an old barn-type structure, which turned out to be an old-fashioned schoolhouse, which was in session. The teacher and students were all wearing 1800s-type clothes; the teacher was even wearing one of those frilly edged caps and a white apron over her long dress. We peered in the door, and she gave us a hard look so we moved on. I wondered if this was for real, or if it was some kind of reenactment.
As we walked away from the school, two big dogs came up to us. I was afraid of them, but in a loud, strong voice, I said, "Go on, get away!" and snapped my fingers very loudly, pointing toward the schoolhouse. They immediately obeyed and walked away.
Back in Brett's parents' house, his mother was talking on the phone, but she was covered up in a blue blanket because she was cold. I thought this was strange in south Florida.
