The other day I dreamed that by holding these long strings in each hand, presumably connected to some sort of kite or parachute, I could be picked up by the wind and then fly around like I did skydiving a week ago. It was fantastic! I did big loops through the air, like I was on a giant swing, and twirled around with the ground spinning beneath me. I remember wondering out loud, before the skydiving adventure, whether it would be fodder for nightmares or good dreams. 'Turns out that, so far at least, it's definitely the latter!
Oh, except there was one more detail: I somehow got my apparatus wound around the front pillars of a big house where I think I was staying, and knew I was vaguely in trouble. I was summoned, with another person who had been flying, to the upper room of the house, where there were three unhappy older men, one of whom was Dick Cheney. There we were reprimanded for flying.

Beach Island
I was on some sort of trip with my entire nuclear family. We were on an island that had blindingly white sand. The beach was pretty, but a little bit terrifying, with massive waves that would spring up suddenly and engulf people playing in the surf. The tide was out, so we drove over the sand to where we could see the water in the distance. It was rather barren and disconcerting. The receding tide had left little pools of water, and there were whales beached everywhere. They were shiny and black and not as big as ordinary whales. I saw a smaller fish-like creature (though it was in the air like a bird) trying to pull one of the whales back into the water with his teeth. I don't think he was trying to save it, though; I think he was trying to take it home to eat it.
My family and I decided to head into the interior of the island, where there was jungle. We were in a hotel room--apparently my brother's--putting on sunscreen. My dad sat on the bed and said he wasn't going to go with us. I didn't really feel like venturing out into the wilds, either, but I rubbed in my sunscreen anyway.
The whole dream left me feeling vaguely uneasy. I seemed to know that I should undertake the adventures, but just felt a slight sense of foreboding and disinspiration to leave the comfort of the car or hotel.

Truckin'
I got back to my car after doing something, and it wouldn't start. I rolled down the hill I'd parked on in the alley, but because it was an automatic I couldn't compression start it, and came to a stop by a gas station. I figured I either needed a jump start or some gas, so I went in to the office to check about a jump first.
The man who came out to help me was named Stovlos, and he was old and short and round, with an accent. He went right to work on my car, which at some point became a huge U-Haul truck. He and his crew of young helpers were taking things apart and welding other things on while I wandered around the gas station.
At one point, there was a huge, maybe 10-foot high pile of pale tan teddy bears, with the movable joints, and all of these young people in bright green and red jackets (embroidered, I think, with the words Happy Holidays). Then the kids carted off the teddies before I could get a picture on my camera phone. But then the kids were walking through these tents, perusing tables like at a bazaar. I saw one pick up a paintbrush, and another pick up a blank wooden palette. I think they were supposed to be some sort of elves!
There was a display of sunglasses, and I tried on a huge pair with transparent pink frames, the lenses dark at the top and pink at the bottom. People who walked by laughed at (with) me. I looked in the mirror, and they were terrible! They made me look all squinchy. I was putting back a second pair when one of the young workers, the dark-haired one, came up to me, and I leaned back against him. He put his arm around my waist, and I let him walk with me until he went for the hem of my shirt, at which point I shook him off and went back to the truck.
Back at the truck, things were really apart, and I was nervous. It looked like they had cut some sort of hole in the ceiling in back--I guess to get to the attic! But as I was standing there, they managed to start the truck up. So we all got in; I think we were going to get some lunch and/or return the trailer. I figured I would treat since they had all worked so hard. Stovlos was driving, and I was sitting in the back of the truck with the blond helper, who wasn't as attractive as the dark-haired one, but was friendly in a shy way. I guess Stovlos couldn't turn the truck around, because he decided to back out of the alley, at top speed. The blond guy and I had windows we could look out of, and we seemed to be the only ones who could really see what was going on. At the end of the alley, before we hit the road, were gigantic--20 foot--asphalt hills and valleys, like a roller coaster. Stovlos hit them at high speed, and I was sure we were going to get high-centered or otherwise stuck, and screamed the whole time. Until we hit the road, and were fine. I looked over and the blond boy had tears in his eyes, so I hugged him and put my head on his shoulder and he reached up and played with my hair.
Once we hit the road, Stovlos kept driving backward, although it was easier on a smooth surface. Looking out the windows, we saw dolphins jumping out of the water! I think we were driving by Lake Michigan, so I don't know how there were dolphins there, but there were. We seemed to be heading north, but I had no idea where we were going or why, and decided just to go with it. I asked what time it was, and the blond guy told me it was 8:30. "Eight thirty a.m.?" I asked incredulously. "Cross my heart!" he responded, and I think he was actually serious. It was dusky outside, and I couldn't figure that one out. As we drove through the city, outside eateries were packed with people.
We finally stopped so that Stovlos could drive forward instead of backward. He came up to where the blond and I were sitting, which was then the front, and I scooted into the middle so that he could drive. He immediately started going, and nearly got us squashed between two lanes of traffic, as the right lane was ending. "The light was blue when I started," he said by way of explanation.
My exams start today at 10:00, and for an anxiety dream, this one wasn't actually so bad!

it felt like i was in a movie
maybe something like james bond? only i was not the hero. i was the weird person that left you wondering "why is SHE in the movie?" i was the tag along 'scaredy' cat that didn't want to be there.
anyways, i don't remember a whole lot. i do know that i was with some strange Indiana Jones type of man who talked someone into letting him borrow a boat which resembled a pirate ship. there were 2 of us navigating, although i wasn't helping too much as i was the one sitting in the back of the boat wishing i was there. the only other thing i really remember is that there were cars driving on the water. i remember some type of red audi. and we were trying to chase someone. in a foreign country.

Troubled waters
I was in my car when I started up the bridge, because I remember one of the workers holding out his hand for me to stop as I approached, and then motioning that I could continue. It looked like it was under construction, or perhaps just being built, like the new bike bridge on my commute to school.
By the time I got near the end of the bridge, though, things were definitely not finished, and I was on my own; I was now on my hands and knees crossing the widely-spaced rungs of a swinging bridge. As I was struggling with it, a guy passed me, and then he got the single-passenger circular orange transport-thing that would take him to the other side of the river. It was meant to travel on water, which seems odd given that we'd just crossed a bridge, but the logistical aspect that most concerned me at the time was how I would get across if he was taking the only transporter. He assured me that there was another on the other side, which satisfied me at the time (dream logic!).
When I crossed the bridge, I realized I needed to pack my suitcase before I got on the transporter. I knew I didn't have much to pack, but found myself packing and packing. Suddenly I realized I had two suitcases, both with clothes in them, that I needed to consolidate into one. About that time I became aware that I had been spending waaaaay too long on this, that I was at my aunt and uncle's house, and that I was about to be late for my flight. Thankfully my aunt agreed to drive me to the airport if I could cross the street and meet her on the other side--whatever that means.
I keep having these packing dreams; this is at least the third this week. First, I dreamed I was repacking my suitcase on a bus trip and missed the bus. Then a few days ago, I dreamed my family and I were going on a trip and that I was trying to grab things at the last minute, because I hadn't packed at all. There's the general anxiety of being late and about to miss my ride, but there's also the guilt about my tardiness and inability to get it together. I want some pleasant travel dreams!

Ssssssmokin'!
I don't smoke cigarettes, and never have. I'm picky to borderline neurotic about my teeth and nails, and as a runner (and human!) also really need my lungs to work optimally. However, for years I've had dreams about smoking. Last night in my dream I smoked several rather long cigarettes, and I had the niftiest little lighter, a small metal button that flipped open to reveal a tiny flame.
You can feel free to question my thought process on this, but I've long equated these dreams with the desire to cut my hair very short (though being around smokers and seeing them on screen is likely an influence as well). I've been itching for a haircut recently; that seems like a better way to get rid of the dreams than to take up smoking!
Later on, I dreamed that we were running away/hiding from a bear. We were trying to throw rocks at it to scare it away, but somehow two groups of us ended up throwing at each other, and I kept barely avoiding being hit. My own ineffectual lob hit Bryant's mom, though thankfully not very hard.

The Future?
I usually remember my dreams, but this week I have had a hard time. Last night, I did have three dreams, but only remember a little bit of one. Maybe its old age, maybe because that was a quality in my dream, who knows...
Anyway, last night, I dreamt that I saw an ex-friend of mine (ya, know the great friend of mine who stole my identity..gotta love friendship!) and he was really old. I could see the grey hair, the wrinkles etc. He didnt look good at all. Pretty depressed actually. He didnt say much to me, but what he did say was not audible. I continually ignored him to signal a lack of interest and desire to not give him attention because I was still so angry for what he did.
I always have imagined that this is the response I would have to him if I actually did see him, however the thought of dreaming it makes me ponder otherwise.

It's The End of the World...
So the other night I had what I'll just go ahead and refer to as the Star Trek dream. I wasn't like Captain Kirk or anything, but there was a ship, something about trying to save the world, and flying through space. I can't remember if I saved the world or not, but I had this awesome plan, like, the greatest plan in the history of plans. I mean, it was just....unstoppable. Unfortunately it was about that time that my girlfriend rolled over and kicked me, so I woke up.
And now the world is probably doomed.
