on a mission

I only have hazy memories of this dream, or rather I only remember one part of it clearly.

In the midst of many other dramatic things, I was trying to get some kind of medicine for my mother, who had developed a cough. The problem was (and here's where it gets hazy), we were on some kind of pilgrimage or migration or something. Anyway, I realized that one smart way to get this medicine was to break into the house of the parents of a childhood friend. The dad is a doctor in real life, btw. In the dream, however, they were living in my grandmother's house in rural Oklahoma. In the dead of night, I made my way to their house. I decided, though, that the best way to be unobtrusive was to take off all my clothes. I shed my clothes in the yard (I was wearing some kind of smock-like dress). I successfully sneaked up to the house, opened the front door (unlocked), and went into the house. They were clearly sleeping in the back bedroom. For some reason, though, I didn't get what I was looking for. I left the house, only to realize that I hadn't picked up the medicine. This happened three times. The third time, I realized that I was being stupid, so I went into the house again, determined to get the medicine. This time, however, they heard me. The doctor/father chased me out of the house. I ran, but he had already seen where I had hidden (behind a row of bushes in the middle of the yard). He called me back inside, where he and his wife proceeded to question me extensively. The sticking point of being naked wasn't a problem, since somehow my clothes had ended up in the house, which is why he knew where to find me (??).

That's all I can remember, though I know there was a lot more.

The no-clothes thing made perfect sense in the dream, let me tell you.

I remembered this one because afterward, I told it to myself out loud so I'd remember it for this blog.
